If Technology Concepts setup your PC, we installed all pending updates to your operating system and Microsoft Office. However, Microsoft comes out with new updates on a regular basis. Windows2000 and WindowsXP allows you to configure your PC to automatically download critical updates ( critical updates are usually security related). If we setup your PC, it is already set to download critical updates and notify you when they’re ready to be installed (that’s the globe that appears near your clock when new updates are available).
Our recommendation is that you verify your PC is configured to automatically download critical updates and periodically (approximately every three months) check for and install all Windows updates and Office updates. |

If you are told you must reboot to complete the installation, it is acceptable to click NO and let the installation complete the next time your reboot. This will avoid interrupting your work in the middle of the day. |

| To check for and install Microsoft Office updates: |
| |
| 1. |
Have your MS Office CD available. Office updates often require access to the original MS Office CD. |
| 2. |
Run Windows Update (click on the Start button and select Windows Update). |
| 3. |
Click on the Office Update link. The office Update link can be found just below Windows Updaet at the top of the screen. It will have a blue background with white lettering. |

We recommend you install all updates recommended, especially anything identified as a security patch. Some updates require prerequisite updates be installed first. If the checkbox for any update is gray you will need to install the available recommended updates first, then rerun the Office updates. |
