A phish is an e-mail, seemingly form a reputable company, asking you to verify information about your account. In reality. These messages are from disreputable individuals who want to steal your personal information for their own gain. When you click on a link in the message, it takes you to a website that appears to be legitimate. The sites ask for various information, usually including your account number and password or PIN. Some of the company names that have been used in phishes include PayPal, Citibank, eBay, and Wells Fargo.
Our recommendation is that you inform your staff about phishes to make them aware. If you receive a phish e-mail message, either delete it or report it to the company it claims to be from. |
